Heavy Rain and Potential Flooding in San Bernardino County?
2/14/2023 (Permalink)
Last month, the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District issued warnings for heavy rain and potential flooding as the county expected to receive two to three inches of rain overnight, offering free sandbags and sand throughout the county. Our local team in Chino/Chino Hills can help when you have a storm damage emergency. Our technicians have the training, equipment, and experience needed to restore storm damage in Butterfield Ranch, no matter how extensive the damage is. Here are some helpful tips for the best placement of sandbags:
- Clear debris from the area where you want to build the barrier. Don’t build on uneven ground as sandbags need to settle flat.
- Place the sandbags lengthways/parallel to the direction of the water flow. Ensure the open end of the bag is folded under the filled portion of the bag.
- Flatten down each row of bags with your foot to eliminate gaps, create a tight seal and support the structure of the wall. Lay the rows like brickwork with each bag overlapping the one below by half.
- When there are more than four rows, build the wall in a pyramid shape three times wider than it is tall. Seal the wall with plastic sheeting for added protection on the “wet” side and secure it with a row of sandbags across the top and along the bottom edge.
