Fire Season

What even is wildfire season anymore? In past decades fire season typically ran from July to October before peaking in August; now, fire season is almost year-round.
With California having been in a drought for the past 22 years and receiving very little rain in 2022, many are anticipating hefty wildfires across the state.
In April 2022, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California announced a new mandate slated to begin in June that limits outdoor watering to just once per week, one of the strictest water conservation mandates in history.
Although we cannot control the weather or the water, we can proactively prepare for the hot and dry summer months that lie ahead of us.
Here are four acts you should be doing now to prepare for wildfires:
- Remove dead and dry vegetation from your yard
- Ensure that roofs, gutters, and decks are free of all vegetative debris
- Confirm that flammable objects and liquids are at least 30 feet away from the structure
- Remove tree branches and shrubs hanging over the roof
These small precautions can be the difference between a home burning and a home being saved during a wildfire. If you have any questions or if your home has suffered a wildfire, SERVPRO of Chino/Chino Hills is here to answer your call 24/7.
