It’s so important for property owners to inspect the plumbing systems in their homes or buildings at least once per year, especially on properties that are over 20 years old. 

Being proactive with plumbing systems may seem like an inconvenience but will ultimately save you money in the long run, as routine maintenance can lead to the detection of a future problem. 

Pipes used for plumbing typically have a lifespan between 20 and 70 years. Brass pipes can last for about 70 years, while copper pipes last about 50 years, and steel pipes can survive anywhere between 20 and 50 years. 

While there is no telling the exact lifespan of the piping in your property, you can tell if a pipe is damaged by warped and discolored floorboards, which usually indicates water leakage.
