Fairfield Park Ranch Residents Battle Against Flooding During Heavy Rain Event?
5/21/2024 (Permalink)
Our local Chino/Chino Hills team is trained and certified to restore water and property damage caused by heavy rain events. Fairfield Ranch Park, located in the city of Chino Hills, California, features soils primarily of the “Chino” series of soils.
The Chino series consists of typically deep, well-drained, and moderately sloping soils. They are derived from alluvial fan deposits and are often characterized as loamy sand or sandy loam soils. These soils are suitable for a variety of agricultural and urban uses.
During a heavy rain event, the soil absorbs water until it reaches its field capacity, which is the maximum amount of water the soil can hold against the force of gravity. Once the soil reaches field capacity, any additional rainfall leads to runoff.
The specific time it takes for Chino series soils to reach saturation can vary depending on factors such as the initial moisture content of the soil, the intensity and duration of rainfall, the slope of the land, and the presence of any surface sealing or compaction that may inhibit infiltration.
In general, sandy soils like those in the Chino series may reach saturation faster than finer-textured soils. Still, the actual time can vary widely depending on the specific conditions of the rain event and the soil and landscape characteristics.
