Peeling Back the Layers
Baseboards and crown molding are often misleading when it comes to moisture damage. Most of the time, water will travel behind them, leaving the average homeowner unable to completely dry out an area that has experienced a water loss. This can be especially troublesome if the moisture behind the baseboard is allowed to sit, as it can quickly lead to mold. This condominium in Ontario, CA experienced a flood in the adjacent room next door. The water was allowed to seep into the walls, causing water damage to the room.
After placing air movers and marking the affected areas to be cut, SERVPRO of Chino/Chino Hills removed the baseboards and removed the affected material.
